FRUITS AND VEGETABLES  CASY BOPP Chairperson

THE FAIRBOARD WILL PROVIDE PLATES FOR EXHIBITING FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRODUCTS.

1) Registration time: Thur. 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. & Fri. 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

2)  Potatoes and root crops shall not be washed but should be wiped clean. Root crops will be cut with 1-inch tops.

3)  All crops must be this years produce except clover, alfalfa and grasses, corn, beans and millet which may be last year’s  produce.

4)  All entries not meeting requirements will be disqualified.

             Where specified, exact numbers must be shown in each lot.

                CLASS I: FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

Premiums: $3.00, $2.00, $1.00

1. 12 Beans, green (calyx attached)

2. 12 Beans, yellow (calyx attached)

3. Beets, 6 (tops 1 inch long)

4. Broccoli, (minimum head diameter 3 inches)

5. Brussel Sprouts, 12

6. Cabbage, red (show with 1-2 green wrapper leaves)

7. Cabbage, white (show with 1-2 green wrapper leaves)

8. Carrots, 6 (uniform type, 1 inch tops)

9. Cauliflower,1 (trim leaves flush with curd)

10. Celery (1 bunch)

11. Corn, sweet 3 (show ears with husk on)

12. Cucumber, dill 6 (3-inch and smaller)

13. Cucumber, pickling 6 (show with short stem)

14. Cucumber, slicing 3 (not over 9 inches long)

15. Eggplant, 1

16. Gourds, 6 (can be 6 of one kind or 6 of a variety)

17. Kohlrabi, 3 (remove root, cut tops at base)

18. Lettuce, head 1

19. Melon, Muskmelon (mature)

20. Melon, Watermelon (mature)

21. Onions, green table 6 (maximum bulb diameter 3/4 inch with tops 6 inches long and roots removed)

22. Onions, white, mature 6 (shown with outer scales on, tops 1 inch long, trim roots)

23. Onions, red, mature 6 (shown with outer scales on, tops 1 inch long, trim roots)

24. Onions, yellow 6 (shown with outer scales on, tops 1 inch long, trim roots)

25. Parsnips 3 roots (top 1 inch long) )

 

26. Peas 12 (uniform pods, calyx attached)

27. Peppers, green 3 (uniform size and shape)

28. Peppers, red 3 (uniform size and shape)

CLASS II:   VEGETABLE BOX EXHIBIT

Garden Box Exhibits—Exhibit contains three different kinds of vegetables. Two varieties of the same vegetable do not qualify as two different kinds. Display in a shallow box approximately the size of a fruit box. Line the box with white paper for neatness. DO NOT DECORATE THE BOX. Select any three vegetables available for exhibit. For example, an exhibit could contain a squash, a watermelon and six tomatoes. See lots 1-64 to determine the number of each vegetable variety to include in your exhibit.

11. Pears 3 (uniform shape)

14. Raspberries, fresh, 1 pt.

15. Strawberries, fresh, 1 pt.

16. Any other varieties
